I heart Ray Nagin

Don't do another press conference until the resources are in this city. And then come down to this city and stand with us when there are military trucks and troops that we can't even count.
Don't tell me 40,000 people are coming here. They're not here. It's too doggone late. Now get off your asses and do something, and let's fix the biggest goddamn crisis in the history of this country."

Date: 2005-09-02 10:00 pm (UTC)You know, I saw Harry Connick Jr. on the "Today" show this morning, talking from Baton Rouge. He said that he easily got into some of the areas, like the SuperDome and the convention center, yesterday when he went down into New Orleans in a vehicle. He couldn't understand WHY no trucks, buses, etc. were being sent in there to deliver supplies to these poor people.
It just broke my heart to see these people, dehydrating, starving, with these awful sanitation conditions and the blazing heat. Pregnant women...people with babies and children...the eldery and the disabled. It's an unfathomable situation.
