For the last several weeks Cassie has been extremely fatigued, having dizzy spells to the point that she was even using her wheelchair just to get from the bedroom to the bathroom, and generally feeling very run down. With Mechacon coming up in two weeks, an anime convention in New Orleans that she is desperately hoping to attend, she finally agreed to have some labwork done to figure out what was going on. Her hemoglobin was 6.4. Normal is 12-15. Most doctors transfuse below 8. She had a blood transfusion overnight in the hospital, she got two units of blood, and we're hoping this is going to get her feeling better. If she agrees to it, she'll probably have one every other month for as long as it seems to be in her best interest. Everyone on the hemo/oncology unit was amazing, especially Derek, our 11-7 nurse, who not only knew all about anime, but also recognized that I was wearing a replica of Dean Winchester's necklace.

Surprisingly, she didn't need it. I don't know if she was already so weak from the anemia or what, she's had Versed several times and stayed awake and oriented, but this time it hit her like a ton of bricks. She slept through having the IV inserted and a solid five hours afterwards.

I hope this does the trick, Logan, and helps Cassie gain her strength back. You guys will be in my thoughts.

I hope she's feeling better!! I had to do that once and it was awful. I can't imagine having to do it every other month. :/
